Firearms Training As a gun owner, you need to put yourself in a position of power. We offer firearms training classes for military personnel, law enforcement, and private gun owners, including women and children. All courses, except Refuse to Be a Victim and Home Firearm Safety, meet the requirements for applying for a Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License, also known as a Florida Concealed Weapon Permit.

Accurate Edge, LLC also has custom courses that include individualized gun training. In fact, because there are only 52 weekends in a year, we also offer our courses during the week. Call us if you or your group is interested in a weekday class, private class, or custom class.

Course Descriptions

Marksmanship Fundamentals Pistol Course

Marksmanship Fundamentals Pistol Course – 4+ Hours

This is NOT a NRA-approved course, but does meet the requirements for applying for a FL Concealed Weapons or Firearm License. It focuses on Lessons II and III of the NRA pistol courses, specifically the marksmanship fundamentals, including grip, stance sight picture, sight alignment, trigger squeeze, breath control, and follow through. After practicing with our laser training system, students will shoot 10 to 20 rounds of ammunition on our live fire range. Bring your own pistol, eye and ear protection, and ammunition if you have them. These can be provided if you do not have this gear. Students wishing to borrow guns can do so but are limited to .22 caliber.

Basic Defensive Pistol Course – 5+ hours

This is NOT a NRA-approved course but does meet the requirements for applying for a FL Concealed Weapons or Firearm License. Students in this class are expected to be able to be comfortable shooting their pistol and hitting the target at 21 feet or less every time!! Then, the course moves on to:

• Effective Use of Cover and Concealment
• Getting off the Line
• Shooting on the Move
• Awareness Levels
• Defensive Shooting Positions
• Dennis Tueller’s “How Close Is Too Close” Principle
• Some Force-on-Force Practice with Our Laser Training Pistols
• Live Fire on Our Range

NRA Personal Protection CoursesMuch of the course material comes from the two NRA Personal Protection courses – PP in the Home and PP Outside the Home. A short session on room-clearing exercises may be added if time allows. Students should have their own holster, mag pouches, pistol or revolver (9mm, 38, or 40 or 45), and at least two or three magazines or speed loaders. Please bring eye and ear protection if you have them, as well as a ball cap and a concealment garment and at least 100 rounds of ammunition. We have one set of live fire training gear available for student use for this class so the more students who can provide their own gear the more course material we can cover. Students wishing to borrow guns can do so at no cost. We have one 9mm pistol and ammo available. There is an additional charge for the 9mm ammunition.

Consists of One of the Following Three:
• Basic Handgun
• Concealed Carry
• Home Defense

While there is overlap between each course, the focus of each class is slightly different. USCCA course materials are used for this course. Safety and marksmanship, fundamentals, and principles of self-defense are all covered. Each course runs $175 and a USCCA course completion certificate is issued.

NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Basic and Instructor Course

This 30+ hour set of courses will result in recommendation to NRA for the issuance of NRA Instructor credentials in the Personal Protection Outside the Home (PPOtH) discipline. Candidates MUST be NRA Certified Pistol Instructors and NRA Certified PPItH Instructors prior to attending this course. Basic Instructor Training (BIT) will not be presented but candidates will be required to pass the trainer’s exam. All instructor candidates MUST attend the basic course prior to attending the instructor course. No exceptions. This is a NRA requirement. All NRA course materials, including the NRA DVD on this topic, are included. Preregistration and deposit are required to hold a seat in this class. A minimum of six (6) students must register for this class to convene.

NRA Advanced Defensive Pistol Mentoring Program

This is a brand new NRA mentoring program for those who want to jump right into concealed carry tactics after a NRA basic pistol or NRA FIRST Steps pistol course. Contact us for more details on this program.

NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation Course

NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation CourseThis NRA-approved Course offers a small class size with at least two instructors on staff. The course exceeds NRA training requirements and includes use of our laser training system and significant live fire on our private range. Many extras are included. Location is in a relaxed rural environment. This training meets and exceeds the state requirement for applying for a Florida Concealed Weapon or Firearm License (Concealed Weapon Permit) per Florida Statute 790.06 (2)(h)(2). This course will last about five (5) hours, not including the lunch break time.

• Deposit of $125 and Preregistration Required

NRA Certified Pistol Instructor and Certified Home Firearm Safety Instructor Combined Course

Successful completion of this 22+ hour course will result in recommendation for NRA Certified Instructor Credentials in these two disciplines. A NRA required pre-course qualification is required. NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) is included. Additionally, the NRA Basic Pistol DVD is included, as is a copy of Jon Gutmacher’s book, “Florida Firearms Law, Use, and Ownership.” All NRA required training materials are also included. Pre-course qualifications will be held on or before October 11. BIT will be on October 12. Pistol and HFS Instructor combined course will be held on October 13-14. This is a NRA-approved course.

Our course is extremely complete and thorough. Many extras are included. An online tour of useful web links and pages is also part of this course. A copy of Jon Gutmacher’s “Florida Firearms Law, Use, and Ownership” book, the USCCA Concealed Carry and Home Defense book, and the NRA Basic Pistol DVD are all included. When completed, you will be ready to run your courses and earn your course fee back in just your first couple of courses.

NRA Refuse to Be a Victim Seminar and Instructor Development Workshop

A Non-Firearms Personal Safety Program

NRA Rifle Instructor Course

Successful completion of this 14+ hour course will result in recommendation for NRA Certified NRA Rifle Instructor CourseInstructor Credentials in the Rifle discipline. This is a NRA-approved course. Candidates must have NRA Certified Instructor Credentials in another discipline, such as pistol, and/or must have completed NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) within the last year. BIT is not part of this course.

• Course Fee: $325

NRA Personal Protection in the Home Instructor Course

This 16+ hour course will result in recommendation for NRA Instructor credentials in the Personal Protection in the Home (PPItH) discipline. Candidates MUST be NRA Certified Pistol Instructors prior to attending this course. BIT will not be presented, but candidates will be required to pass the trainer’s exam. All NRA course materials, including the NRA DVD on this topic, are included. Preregistration and deposit are required to hold a seat in this class. A minimum of six (6) students must register for this class to convene.
